In 2015, a popular winery in the area was in a spot of bother and in need of a helping hand. Denis took up the job of winemaker and turned their old school French winery into a modern business and is already producing some spectacular wines.
For what he has achieved, he is a very humble man who likes nothing better than a delicious meal with his family and covering some serious distance on his bike. His dream is simply to make fruity, juicy, easy-drinking wines that everyone can enjoy and he is so happy to share them with Angels.
He was never going to be kept a secret for long and the big dogs of the industry are already cosying up to him with pleading puppy eyes. Trust us, this is just the beginning for Denis and we couldn’t be more excited!
When Johan started Kruger Family Wines 3 years ago he’d just chucked in a safe Stellenbosch job to follow his dream. Money was tight so he could only rent a place to make his own wines, and was spending a ton of time on the road selling them. A total waste of his time and talent.
Then we got a tip-off from South African legend Bruwer Raats. He said Johan was just the kind of insanely talented, up and coming winemaker Naked was born to champion. We signed him up, gave 200,000 Angels access to his wines, and boom! It was love at first sight (on both sides).
Angel funding is helping Johan to plant new vineyards, expand his winery and kit it out with even bigger and better barrels, raising his whole operation. He’s been humbled, and truly gobsmacked, by all the love and support Angels have shown.
From humble roots, Carmen blazed a trail, to become head winemaker at a prestigious winery in South Africa. Her wines won medals by the truckload, yet she couldn’t even get a bank overdraft to start her own business.
That was until Angel funding allowed her to finally fulfil her dream of setting up her own winery. Carmen has gone from strength to strength ever since, winning countless awards (including being voted your Winemaker of the Decade!)
With your support, coupled with her sheer passion and determination, Carmen is helping to create a better future for South African children. Over the past 4 years, she’s raised over half a million pounds to feed hungry school children in the slums just 30 minutes from beautiful Stellenbosch.
Stephen has been making wine from his family vineyard in the Robertson Valley since the tender age of 17. Winemakers don't come more experienced, or, frankly, downright in love with their work than this man.
He's been with us since day one, 10 years ago, when we started out. Ever since, we’ve sold more of his crowd-pleasing Arabella wines than pretty much all of our other winemakers put together. Actually, to be more precise, in a stacking contest it would beat 226 Everests.
We couldn’t have picked a nicer guy to be one of our first, and longest-serving winemakers... and Stephen never forgets it’s the support of wine-mad Angels who’ve been behind his success story.
Young and ambitious Joshua Van Blommestein took over as Manley’s Head Winemaker after working at some of the top vineyards in South Africa. He brings with him bundles of energy and enthusiasm and a keen attention to detail that will make sure those Manley wines continue to hit all the right notes.
Joshua has a soft spot for red wines, especially Shiraz, which he describes as ‘truly elegant’ and ‘a wine we can have a lot of fun with during the winemaking process’ so keep your eyes peeled for some true South Africa belters.
During his studies he travelled over to France where he worked in Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhone, picking up many tips that he can’t wait to put into practice. He’s passionate, meticulous and we can’t wait to see what he brings to Manley.
Katie’s love of wine led her all the way from Leicestershire to the Languedoc where she bought a an idyllic vineyard perched half-way up a hill in Tuchan. In 2013 she experienced every winemaker’s worst nightmare when vandals emptied her entire year’s vintage down the drain.
She turned to us. And 2,500 Angels helped to get her back on her feet - clubbing together to raise over £200k in just 48 hours. Our Queen of the Languedoc was able to start again and gone on to make some seriously delicious wines, with sparkly awards a plenty.
Thanks to her beloved Angels, Katie has been able to nab more hilltop vineyards, expand her range and even move her winemaking operation into an old railway station to fit in more barrels. It’s a long way from the 600 cases of wine she made in her garage in 2009!

Smart move - you've found the Sweet Spot
Here's a juicy little nugget of insider info…
When it comes to wine, a small step in price = a HUGE leap in quality and taste
By spending £8-£10 for a bottle of wine, you're actually getting more than DOUBLE the quality of wine than a £6-£7 bottle …pretty impressive huh?
Sound too good to be true? It's not. Here's how it works…
As the price of a bottle increases, more of your money goes towards the delicious juice in the bottle rather than tax, duty and other boring stuff that adds nothing to the taste.
So you get a LOT more bang for your buck
These Sweet Spot wines have benefited from the very best fruit picked from immaculate vineyards, oodles of TLC, and a lil' extra Angel-funding at every step of the winemaking process.
Pull yer socks up. Because if these Sweet Spot beauties don't blow 'em off I don't know what will
I guarantee our Sweet Spot wines will blow you away. If they don't, then I'll give you every single penny back. So you've really got nothing to lose.
You started a but didn't finish it. What would you like to do?
