I often put aside a few bottles of what I think are going to be special wines that will reward some time carefully stored. This is one such example, I think I’d had it for around 4 years. The occasion for opening? Well its time was approaching with a suggested drink by date of 2020, but the trigger was to join in a small way celebrating Katie reaching the landmark of 10,000 followers on the site. I have drunk various vintages of this wine before, so I was always confident it was going to be great and it did not disappoint. After a spell in the decanter I was rewarded with beautiful concentrated dark berry fruit flavours, a full wine but not over powering, and lovely long smooth finish with a touch of spice. A nice rare fillet steak was the perfect food pairing. So congratulations Katie, here’s to the next 10k followers and the enjoyment of lots more gorgeous wines like this one along the journey.
