About the wine
Steve has dreamed of making this Chard from this premiere coastal vineyard since 1999
Steve Rasmussen, Angel-funded winemaker, says:
- "Delicious Chardonnay with a big whiff of tropical fruit and some enticing, spicy notes from the touch of Pinot Blanc that I blended in. I love to throw a couple fish steaks on the grill with oak or mesquite and grab a cold bottle of this Chard."
- "What makes this wine so special is the unique blend of 76% Chardonnay from the premiere coastal vineyard near the cool-climate town of Los Alamos, just south of the Santa Maria Valley and 24% Pinot Blanc from the Vista del Rio vineyard in Greenfield, Monterey County."
- "Ever since my friends Dana and Kevin Merril started planting the premiere coastal vineyard in 1999, I have always wanted to make wine from it since the location and soils are excellent for cool climate varietals like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. Thanks to the angels I finally got my chance in 2014."
Best before
This wine is ready to drink now but will benefit from some aging and continue to improve for the next 4 to 5 years.
Serving advice
Allow this wine to breathe a little. 30 minutes or so should help.
Food match
My favorite local dish to go with this wine would be some fresh halibut steaks grilled on oak or mesquite together with some grilled local asparagus.
