About the wine
Complex, barrel-aged Cabernet, harvested from a single esteemed Australian vineyard
- This elegant Australian Cabernet gives you a complex mouthful of intense dark fruit flavors, framed with a smooth, rich texture and just a touch of oaky spice from over a year of barrel aging.
- The Gentle Annie Vineyard is set in the heart of Central Victoria, where dry conditions make the vines struggle, giving Sam a low-yielding crop of smaller grapes packed full of extra concentrated flavors.
- Sam has called this wine “a stylish and sophisticated, full-bodied red that also has a delightful freshness to it. Very classy stuff!” Thirsty yet?
Best before
This wine has the power and structure that will give it a long life. It's an impressive wine now, but will reward cellaring. Over time the tannins will become softer and extra layers of savory flavor will develop. For those who like big powerful reds, and like to age wine, this is the goods!
Serving advice
Serve this Cabernet around 60-64ºF. In truth I would open the bottle and get straight into it, but if you have the time and patience, it will open up a little if left to breathe for an hour or two.
Food match
This is a ripper red meat wine. Char-grilled steak and a glass of this Cabernet is just the thing for me!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Sam is one of our Australian All-Stars. He garnered lots of attention as the award-winning winemaker at Plunkett Fowles.
- But Plunkett Fowles hit rough waters and Sam wasn't sure he'd be able to stay in the wine business...until he became Angel funded. Your support put his startup on the map.
- Now Sam is off to the races – with the same dedication to quality winemaking that won so many accolades at Plunkett Fowles – and none of the bother about sales and marketing.
