The woman behind 1,000 wines...
- It started as a few odd jobs in the cellar, and turned into a winemaking gig. Over 30 years later, Sharon can't imagine ever wanting to do anything else.
- Sharon's responsible for making some seriously great wines for others – thousands over her 30-year career. But she's always disappointed after the wine's shipped off... all that hard work, and she never hears what becomes of it!
- Now that you've made her an independent winemaker, she loves sharing her big, enthusiastic winemaking style with Angels – and hearing what you think!
Sharon Weeks's Story
Sharon’s a winemaker who’s been making wine for other winemakers and wineries since 1988 on California’s Central Coast (she can't tell you who her clients are, but you would know them if she did). Prior to that, she spent a solid 18 years working for the mega-brand, Constellation Wines.
In 1986, after her late husband (a fellow winemaker) got a promotion that involved moving the family to a winery, Sharon laced up her own winemaker boots. It started with a few odd jobs in the cellar and turned into a career of her own. "I quickly forgot I ever wanted to do anything else!" she said. “As great of a job as winemaking is, it is my relationships with the people I have met that have enriched my life. If I had not been a winemaker, I would likely never have crossed paths with most of them... and I would have missed out on many of the best times of my life.”
This veteran winemaker's style doesn't fit a stereotype well. "I often surprise people with my reactions and perspectives," she said, noting that she sees her wines as a reflection of her personality. "They'll enjoy the adventure," she said, smiling.
In 2015, Angels gave Sharon the opportunity to make her own wines from start to finish, with a focus on Paso Robles, where she's lived and worked since 2001. "Angel funding has allowed me to branch out on my own and make the style of wines that I always wanted to make," she said.
The story behind Sharon’s label is that she loves cats, tattoos and rock music. A tattoo of a cat is called a Cattoo in tattoo lingo. She felt a tribal style cat tattoo on her label would best embody what she’s about, and was extremely excited to see how much the Angels embraced the cat.
She’s making her best wines for the Naked Wines community – and loves to hear how you enjoy them with friends and family. “I make delicious wines that are a reflection of me and are enjoyed by all who drink them. I strive to make quality wines that over deliver for the price and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.”
