Mario Garcia Castellano's Story
"When I left school, I went to University in Tarragona, Spain, to study Chemistry. After graduating, I then went on to study Wines and Enology in Barcelona... where my passion for winemaking began.
When I finished my course in 1991, my first job was in two wine warehouses manufacturing Champagnes and other fizzy wines. My main task was quality control of all the products. A good start in the industry...
My main aim was to work in the vineyards, which I went on to a couple of years later. I helped to produce wines of great quality, and cultivated traditional varieties such as Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Monastrell, and Viura.
And where I am now... working for a family run business in Tarrangona, founded by two brothers in 1898. The estate is around 20,000 acres, bound by the north to the Prades mountains and to the south by the Mediterranean a beautiful location."
