Marcelo Miras's Story
My grandparents were winemakers, they had vineyard in Mendoza. I grew up among the vineyards. I would have to say I really love my job....I have daily contact with nature, and I get to make an artistic creation. In the wine industry it doesn't get boring, you never stop learning!
As I child I work in the vineyard. I learned to prune, to join the branches, to wrap, to harvest. Then I got my Bachelor of Oenology, studied at the University Juan Agustín Maza, Mendoza. When I told my dad I wanted to study Oenology stared at me and asked if I was sure, if I had another dish on the menu, my brothers are accountants, imagine!, But I had no doubts, I always knew my destiny was among vineyards.
My proudest achievement was being awarded the Golden Medal at the second Francisco Oreglia Awards to Viticulture in Argentina, in 2006. The competition was created to recognize, distinguish and reward those people who work to contribute to viticulture and the wine-making industry in Argentina so this was a big moment for me!
