A Tottoli-talented Alsatian winemaker with a sommelier's spirit

Originally destined for life as a sommelier, Samuel Tottoli was bitten by the winemaking bug after visiting, talking and tasting with winemakers who passed their passion onto him. He made his first wine in 1998 and, over 20 years later, he’s never looked back since.
A specialist in Alsatian wines, Samuel begins every new vintage with a simple objective: to create the finest wines possible. With a focus on finesse, elegance and complexity, he’s excited to show you the incredible quality of the Alsace region - particularly his rich Rieslings.
Samuel admits he still has a bit of the old sommelier spirit in him. He can’t even look at a wine without picturing a delicious food pairing to go with it, and he often makes winemaking decisions by thinking of a dish and imagining how he could create the perfect wine for it. So make sure to try out his foodie tips while enjoying his Riesling. Bon appetit!
Gonzague is one of ten children of Lucien Lurton, a champion of the region who owned many of its finest estates. The Lurton name still rings widely around Bordeaux today.
When Gonzague’s dad retired in 1992, he divided up his properties between his kids. Having grown up running around his father’s Margaux vineyards, spending summers pruning vines or helping out in the cellar, Gonzague had his heart set on one property in particular and he let his dad know - ‘it’s Durfort-Vivens or bust’. Dad duly obliged.
An illustrious Second Growth estate - right up there with Bordeaux’s best - Durfort-Vivens has a rich history but, since Gonzague took over, perhaps the future is even brighter. Over 30 years, he’s introduced lots of ingenious ideas, like bringing in Geologists to optimise his plots and using terracotta jars for ageing, in the pursuit of pure fruit expression. And in 2013, Durfort-Vivens was the first estate in Margaux to go fully-organic. So for almost 10 years now, every single drop of Gonzague’s wine has been made with 100% planet-friendly, organic grapes. Talk about making a good thing even greater.

When you taste top-quality Bordeaux like Edouard's, you understand why it's one of the most famous wine regions in the world

We’ve been looking for more classic Bordeaux wines for ages, but finding the right winemaker to make them has been like finding a needle in a haystack, so much of the region is dominated by traditional old estates that just don’t fit the Naked mould. Thankfully a tip-off from our Bordeaux rebel Olivier Cazenave led us to Edouard, a 3rd generation winemaker at his family’s Chateau Le Grand Verdus estate, and as soon as we met him we knew we’d found our needle.
His name may sound like something out of a French nobleman’s court, and his family estate is practically a castle, but Edouard is actually a really forward-thinking guy who understands the need to balance the new with the old. He’s passionate about organic farming and working with nature, and has been introducing loads of changes in his vineyards to encourage the local wildlife to flourish among his vines “It’s no longer about fighting nature, it will always win. It’s about working with it.”
It’s when you taste top-quality stuff like Edouard’s that you understand why Bordeaux is one of the most famous wine regions in the world. From his access to first-class grapes, to his understanding of the technical side of winemaking, to his ability to create uniquely delicious, classic French wines. If you’re a Bordeaux fanatic, Edouard’s is a name to get really excited about.

The Raggs have been producing super-posh Burgundy kit since 2004, when they first crossed the channel to turn this famous French region into their home away from home.
Burgundy is one of the most celebrated yet traditional wine regions on the planet, which can make it very tough for outsiders like Michael and Fiona to break through. But having started from square one, they’ve now grown their Mischief and Mayhem winery into a fully-fledged Domaine with some of the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the world. They're practically honorary French at this point.
While the locals might scratch their heads at some of the new and exotic approaches this English pair take in the vineyard, one thing they definitely recognise is the quality of the wines they’re making - it’s truly artisan, hand-crafted, world-class stuff.

Julian Faulkner is a second generation winemaker and rising superstar in Provence. Over the past few years, he’s caught the eye of the world’s top wine boffs, with glowing reviews from the likes of Jancis Robinson and a double whammy of ‘world’s best rose’ awards from Decanter and the International Wine Challenge. Not a bad track record.
It all started when he was a kid, helping out his parents in the vineyard. Julian didn’t know it yet, but the bug had bit him. In 1999, unable to turn a profit, his folks were on the verge of selling up when Julian set aside a promising career in the environmental sector to take over as winemaker, with a vow to turn the family business around. Since then, the estate has gone from strength to strength and Julian runs the operation with a green conscience and a big focus on sustainable techniques.
After being let down one too many times by traditional wine corp, Julian reached out to us. Now, he can’t wait to make his standout wines for Angels with the safety and security of being a Naked winemaker, and he’s teaming up with some super-passionate growers to create new and exclusive Provence wines just for you.
