Georges Robert's Story
Georges Robert's Story
"The estate dates back 1532. My ancestor Georges Robert is demobilized to Libourne after the First World War. He meets there his wife-to-be and settled against his parents will. First a taxi driver, he creates a wine merchant company which will thrive, he buys then, among other estates, Chteau du Gazin in Saint-Michel de Fronsac.
His nephew Henri inherited it in 1966. But it is not his job and passion and the estate declined for not being taken care of.
I have taken over the Chteau du Gazin because it has a great potential, confirmed by many specialists. The road is long and painful but it deserves better care.
I love that I can organise my own work alone and being able to be alone sometimes. The paramount philosophy for me is to respect Nature so I do not use chemical products whenever it is not compulsory. I recycle the organic waste into compost.
What do I hate most about my job? The Damn fools who constantly invent new rules to justify their job and who smother us and those who refuse to pay our work at its real value!
I couldn't do my job with out my dog, who by eating the grapes, informs me about its ripeness
I like nothing more than opening a bottle of my finest and having a bath naked in my frog pond under a full moon .... A bit muddy but so good for the skin....No laughing, a great bottle, it is with friends, people with whom we have pleasure to share! What you share, you own it, what you keep, you ultimately loose it.
Chteau du Gazin is a well-balanced blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 8% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes coming from selected old vines grown on a outstanding steep south oriented clayey-calcareous soil. A fine, fleshy, attractive and supple wine with oodles of ripe merlot fruit intertwined with spices and cedar notes and mellow tannins."
