So I had this delivered today and sat a bottle in the window to slowly warm itself up. It's not often that I feel compelled to immediately write a review as I normally wait until the next day at least to put a little perspective on it This wine is one of the very few on the site that has made me post an instant review - basically this is the dogs bo****ks of a wine - an absolute superstar and let me explain why Last weekend i started a bit of a shiraz fest and pulled some really good bottles of the brooding dark stuff from the rack - first it was a bottle of Sams butterfly effect shiraz with a bit of age on it . . . a wine that had really aged well - secondly it was Daryls DRG Shiraz Zinfandel - one of my favourites on the site and an absolute powerhouse - Jens Diamond was next in the queue but then this arrived . . . . Having loved the previous Tait Hamilton my expectations were pretty high but didn't really think it'd be quite as good as the DRG . . . how wrong could I be ? Brooding complexity, bags of fruit, from deep blackberry to some of the floral notes of boysenberry and a little licorice sweetness but tempered with tannin and layer upon layer of flavours that build and build I'd recommend this to anyone who loves their shiraz as it shows the real craft of winemaking with a grape that is often seen as very average - Sam you're a star !
