I'm stingy with my ratings... after a relative glut(3 in 12 months) of 5 heart wines at the start I became harder to please and as such, I've only ever given 5 full houses in 11 years. (you can probably guess where this is going). Yes, my 6th top ranking incoming. I've only had one (large) glass from the bottle, but that's enough to tell me everything I need to know. An enticing dark red in the glass with a nose of violet and other florals. There are tannins, but really well controlled, Dark fruit, mainly black cherry with a touch of blackberry. There's a mild oakiness and a hint of both smoke and leather. You could be forgiven for thinking from the above that there is way too much going on, but there isn't... it's just so harmonious and elegant that it's worth the extra investment for a special occasion (or a Wednesday night treat!). This retails at £60 a bottle in other wine shops, and while I wouldn't pay that to drink it at home, the Naked price is a relative steal! Wednesday 23rd March 2022 x 96/100
