It was #InternationalCheninBlancDay yesterday. My social media was awash with SA bottles, so as a Loire lover I felt I needed to address the balance. So I popped this Savennieres - exclusive to Fine Wine Club members. Amazing concentration w striking youthful qualities. It has a huge attack that keeps coming. Grapefruit zest, scented candle, cotton wool, sage. Leesy citrus finish full of intense bitterness, typical of dry Loire Chenin (but not SA). This bitterness may put some people off. I'm a huge fan of it. Day 2 drinking is just as vibrant and fresh (with punchy acidity) but w added depth and a more herbal edge. A sure fire indicator this will age for 10-15+ years as the best Savennieres do. Amazing typicity. Everything I love in Loire Chenin. I've tasted over 50 now. This is up there with the best. The only question I have - how can I get more?? I'd buy a case at £20 p/bottle.
