James Kinglake Winemaker Series Chardonnay 2017
About the wine
James got to make his dream Chardonnay...and it's an absolute corker
- Some of Majestic customer's favourite winemakers were asked to craft a unique wine and when James Kingslake turned his hand to Chardonnay, he came out with this absolute corker!
- Rich, textured, choc-a-bloc with pears, peaches and lemons and tickled softly with a smidgen of honey, it’s everything you’d want in a Chard. And more. Hat’s off to you, James; we think this is a real winner!
- We’ve had the chance to cherry-pick the best of Majestic wines to plug gaps in our range. This wine wasn’t funded by Angels, so doesn’t carry an Angel saving. But thanks to Majestic’s buying power, you still get it at a snip!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - James Kinglake
After years working as a trader in the city, James decided to call it quits and he and his wife, Catherine, headed out to the south of France to embark on a new adventure; wine.
- They looked around a whopping 45 estates before they found ‘The One’, a classic, blue-shuttered beauty surrounded by vines with jaw-dropping mountain views. In 2004 they moved in and took the reigns of an estate which had been producing wine since the 16th century; Domaine Begude.
- Unperturbed by such history, they got stuck in to their 29 hectares of organic vines. Limoux is ideal for growing top-notch Chard and Pinot Noir and that’s exactly what they do! James has also managed to slip in some Gruner Veltliner, which isn’t technically allowed according to appellation rules but he’s labelled it as ‘Exotique GV’ which the French assume stands for Grand Vin. Hat’s off to you, James!
