Engel fine ales is a small family run handcrafted micro-brewery situated in the village of Aldeby on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.It is run by owner Arnth Engel, his wife Gina and teenage son Samuel. Samuel often designs and prints the bottle labels himself. Arnth operates the brewery in his spare time along side his career as a health care professional.Opening the brewery was a life long ambition of owner Arnth Engel who had always enjoyed home brewing but harboured desires of brewing on a much larger scale. Opa Hay's Brewery was the name chosen for the brewery as Arnth's great grandfather Heinrich Hay from northern Germany had run a brewery and was a master brewer at the turn of the last century. The German for grandfather is of course Opa, which combies to create the breweries unusual name.
