Market Price
Angels save money compared to Market Price...
Our market price is what you’d actually have to pay for this wine at an old-fashioned retail store.
It’s based on the price of wines sold at other companies, that have received the same customer ratings or awards from third parties.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Angel Price, we’ll add a credit to your account.

About the wine
Showstopping Cab from the best of Napa Valley
- This velvety Cabernet is filled with ripe black cherry, black plum and bold raspberry flavors, plush a touch of lush vanilla from French oak aging.
- With your support, Rudy can harvest the best grapes from northern and southern Napa, showcasing tiny corners like the hills of Pope Valley and Yountville – where long, warm days produce larger-than-life reds.
- When a Napa legend like Rudy releases a premium Cabernet from some of the Valley's top vineyards, you stock up while you can.
Best before
Aging wine is a very personal thing. That is because as wines age they tend to change. The fresh youthful fruit of cassis, blackberries and licorice give way to more herbal, olive, black tea and soy aromas. The palate goes from being full and rich to becoming softer and thinner. Not everyone knows these changes happen and can be shocked that the wine is not what they remember. However if you love older wines, and love the changes that happen naturally, as many collectors do, then this wine is for you. However please remember that the bottles need to be stored on their side (or upside down) to keep the cork wet, and also in a cool cellar: preferably under 60F. Otherwise the wine can spoil while you are wating for it.
Serving advice
I would think that more angels will see a benefit to decanting this wine for the next few years. Since it is filtered, there are no sediments to decant off of. However pouring the wine into a decanted a few hours before drinking allows air (oxygen) to enter the wine. This will soften the youthful tannins and make the wine smoother.
Also this wine is best served at cellar temperature (mid 50's to mid 60's). If it is served too warm, then the youthful tannins will be more aggressive.
Food match
I make a classic Italian vegetarian dish from Green's Cookbook called Baked Polenta Layered with Tomato, Fontina and Gorgonzola. It is a summer staple of our household as it allows us to use our garden-grown tomatoes. If you have not been to Greens Restaurant, it is a landmark vegetarian restaurant in San Francisco, and has a rich history rooted in the San Francisco Zen Center. Founded in 1979, it was one of the first businesses to open at Fort Mason, a former military base. The restaurant was conceived as a way to support the Zen Center financially and provide a space for Zen trainees to practice and work. Greens is known for its commitment to seasonal, locally sourced vegetarian cuisine and its stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands

Meet the winemaker - Rudy von Strasser
Rudy von Strasser is a Napa legend — he played a huge part in founding the Diamond Mountain District, famous for its Cabernet. By rallying everyone in the region, he put the AVA (American Viticultural Area) on the map in 1999!
Rudy met Naked through Alex Farber — he was looking to expand his portfolio with some beautiful Petite Sirah, but didn’t have enough room in his winery.
Angel funding helped make that Petite Sirah possible. When he brought us his other wines, we knew we’d hit the jackpot! Rudy’s now able to share his wide range of Diamond Mountain District wines with Angels across the country.
