Lacaze Marselan 2019
About the wine
This rare, fruit-driven Chilean red is a limited must-try
- Meet Marselan – this rare red grape is part of the family tree of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache and bears the best traits of both. Now, it’s the latest lush wine from Chilean winemaker Jean Pascal - plush and luxurious like juicy summer plums, wrapped in a long, smooth finish.
- Marselan is rarely showcased on its own – it often gets blended away as a backup in more famous wines, which are safer bets for wineries looking to make sales. Jean Pascal wants to change that – and your funding gives him that chance.
- That’s why Angels make this place so special – you back the world’s best winemakers, like Chile’s own, JP, to make the wines he couldn’t make anywhere else. Marselan deserves the world stage - and together, you and JP are putting its delicious name in lights.
Best before
This luscious red will be delectable on arrival, but also has the potential to age gracefully through at least 2030.
Serving advice
If possible, let this wine breathe for at least an hour before enjoying it, to let all the flavors come through to their fullest.
Food match
Grilled spicy meat with ratatouille is a perfect match with Marselan.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Jean Pascal Lacaze
- When his main client went bust this brilliant winemaker was left in a pretty sticky situation, thankfully we met him at the right time and with Angel funding rescued his delicious wine!
- Originally trained in Bordeaux, he is now an iconic winemaker in Chile, famous for his Domus Aurea Cabernet Sauvignon. Every vintage he has produced has got a 90+ rating and is dripping with medals and critical acclaim.
- Those wines sell for an average of $60 a bottle, now we have his very own range, exclusive to us, for just a snip of the price. All thanks to Angel support!
