Market Price
Angels save money compared to Market Price...
Our market price is what you’d actually have to pay for this wine at an old-fashioned retail store.
It’s based on the price of wines sold at other companies, that have received the same customer ratings or awards from third parties.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Angel Price, we’ll add a credit to your account.

About the wine
Big and bold Barossa is back
- This is classic Aussie Shiraz, flush with juicy black fruits and barrel-aging spices, like mocha, caramel and vanilla.
- Daryl’s estate Shiraz vineyard, in the Kalimna area of the Barossa Valley, is adjacent to Penfolds—the “mother source” of some of the world’s greatest Shiraz.
- This rich red is a perennial Angel favorite, bold and rich, ready to be served up alongside red meats on the barbie!
Best before
If you prefer bold, juicy, in-your-face wines with more tannin, enjoy it now. If you prefer a softer red, I recommend aging for about 5 years and you'll be well rewarded.
Serving advice
If you're enjoying this wine early, a little aeration can help bring out the fruit and soften the edges. Its best served at room temp, around 68 degrees or a bit cooler.
Food match
Red meats like beef, lamb and game. It is also yummy with Indian food if you want a red wine with this cuisine.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Daryl Groom
- Meet Daryl... a 35-year veteran of the wine biz, credited eight-times as Winemaker of the Year, named by Food & Wine Magazine as one of 11 visionaries to change the world of wine... and oh yes, he served up his wines at the Oscars and Emmys two years in a row! Safe to say, the man's accomplished.
- Working as the senior white and red winemaker at Penfolds, his 1986 Penfolds Grange was arguably one of the top 3 Granges ever made - 98 points from Spectator and Robert Parker. And now that he works for you, he loves showing off wines from Australia and his California home – Sonoma and Russian River Valley.
- Thanks to your funding, Daryl can focus on doing what he loves – making great wine and sharing great wine. And he selects the best barrels he needs and farms to the best quality. "You are a gift from God to a winemaker," he says. "I knew there were Angels in heaven!"
–– "Groom made Penfolds' flagship red, Grange Hermitage, which has become Australia's most collectible wine." --Wine Spectator, on the $500+ Grange
–– "Groom is my choice for Winemaker of the Year " -- LA Times, Dan Berger
–– "Daryl Groom. The human Tornado. " -- Bill Rice, Chicago Tribune
