LangeTwins Family's Story
For founders Randy and Bradford Lange (themselves, identical twins), the success of the family's sustainable Lodi winery, wines, and vineyards is multigenerational — they carry a rich tradition of farmers and stewards of the Northern San Joaquin Valley's wine lands.
The Homegrown Past
The LangeTwins Family story began in the years following California’s historic Gold Rush, when the family’s German ancestors settled in the North San Joaquin Valley to carve out a living growing wheat and watermelons. After their initial farming success, they bought a vineyard next.
“Our family has evolved across the generations - from watermelons to wine grapes to wine - with a singular passion: to protect the family farm.”
That one vineyard has amassed into a collection of incredible sites. The twins are guardians to over 67 vineyards planted within 4 of Lodi’s distinct sub-appellations and the Clarksburg appellation. And they’re planning for a large, fruitful future.
The LangeTwins Family have vinted wines from their estate grapes since 2005, but they’ve worked with the likes of wine giants for decades — including Robert Mondavi and other industry pioneers — to establish new vineyards, experimental varietals (Lodi is known for Zin, but the LangeTwins Family lay claim to over 30 unique varieties!) and trial innovative farming techniques. The twins lovingly describe their lives as taking place in the vineyard (“it’s where we grew up!”) and are raising the next generation to carry on their happy way of life.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue to build a hands-on business that cultivates a lasting impact – one which includes family of all ages and stages.”
The Inspired Present
Being family-owned and family-run, there’s a LangeTwins family member involved at nearly every step of the operation. From planting the vineyard, growing the vines, enduring the long nights of harvest, winemaking, bottling, shipping, and managing to keep the entire business sewn together — lots of different hats are worn. The whole LangeTwins family is behind every wine that you’re welcoming into your cellar.
Throughout the years, especially the early ones, the twins had to be jacks-of-all-trades, pruning, irrigating, driving the tractor, and harvesting to keep afloat… but with elbow grease comes immeasurable family pride.
“We’re cultivating a lasting impact because we’re doing it together. All the tough times in the past enabled us to provide a sustainable future for our vineyards for generations to come.”
Now Angels are helping the LangeTwins Family cultivate an impact — by supporting their estate wines, and their dedication to family. The LangeTwins Family says “if you want to go far, go together” — they’re in wine for the long haul, just like the Naked community.
“We are thrilled to connect to Angels. It’s truly outstanding to be able to share our stories and our wines without filters, and hear your thoughts and impressions.”
The Sustainable Future
Each bottle supports a passionate wine family looking to pay it forward to the next generation. The LangeTwins Family are applauded industry-wide for their sustainability initiatives and have received the Leopold Conservation Award (2006), BRIT’s International Award of Excellence in Sustainable Winegrowing (2014), and were named California Association of Winegrape Growers Grower of the Year (2017).
Now that Angels are by this incredible farming family’s side… the future is blindingly bright — for both the LangeTwins Family, and wine drinkers looking to create a legacy of their own.
