She's fighting to keep her Bordeaux co-op indie - despite the pull of the big Châteaux
- Laetitia was born into France’s most acclaimed region, Pauillac – the famous Left Bank Bordeaux subregion home to 3 of Bordeaux’s 5 Premier Cru (First Growth) estates (Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Latour) – the high roller’s club.
- Since 2013, Laetitia’s been the Head Winemaker at La Rose Pauillac – a winery cooperative with 25 growers, producing Cabernet Sauvignon-based blends from vineyards they tend to in an ancestral way like gardens.
- Angel support can prevent the vineyards of La Rose Pauillac from going into the hands of the grand Châteaux. “Naked Wines is very important to us because it keeps La Rose Pauillac alive and it allows us to continue,” she said. You can keep Bordeaux indie - by supporting her wines!
Laetitia Roca's Story
Laetitia is Pauillac born and raised – in the famous Left Bank Bordeaux subregion home to 3 of Bordeaux’s 5 Premier Cru estates – Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Latour. Her family’s owned vineyards there since the 1960s – so she’s right at home. Vineyards are passed down from generation to generation, so everyone's choice to become a winegrower is a natural one. “I’ve always been immersed in Pauillac and I want to continue my family’s tradition,” said Laetitia.
Since 2013, Laetitia has been the Head Winemaker La Rose Pauillac. Founded in 1929, 14 passionate winegrowers with limited financial means and smaller vineyards decided to go in together to produce a single wine – the famous green label Grand Vin du Médoc – La Rose Pauillac. By the 1980s, all the winegrowers in the region had joined.
Today multiple generations work passionately side by side, seeing the fruit of their labor transformed into wines that delight people all over the world. “Going to work our vines allows us to escape, to recharge our batteries,” Laetitia added. “Facing our vines, in the middle of nature and these wide open spaces, we feel free!”
Laetitia’s La Rose Pauillac is made with love and respect for tradition and the environment. The vineyards are located throughout Pauillac – wedged between the 18 Grands Crus Classés – whose diversity adds complexity to the wine. La Rose also has the best quality-to-price ratio of this prestigious appellation. “During blind tastings among Bordeaux’s wine industry professionals, La Rose is superior to those of certain neighboring Grands Crus Classés! What satisfaction! It is very encouraging for all,” shared Laetitia.
With Angel support, Laetitia hopes to prevent the vineyards of La Rose Pauillac from going into the hands of the grand Châteaux. “Naked Wines is very important to us because it keeps La Rose Pauillac alive and it allows us to continue,” she said. “I am also looking forward to connecting directly with Angels and bringing them the pleasure of this historic award-winning Bordeaux.”
