Award-winning winemaker from Clare Valley
Hailing from Australia's highly regarded Clare Valley, Adam Barton launched his winemaking career after tasting a glass of Lindemans 1965 Hunter River Burgundy. It was "magic," as Adam described it.
Winemaking since 2001, Adam carefully selects his vineyards and growing partners, and throws in lots of care and attention to the smallest details.
Thanks to Angel support, Adam has the freedom to experiment with making unconventional blends with different grape varieties – pushing the envelope to make award-winning wines for you.

Adam Barton's Story
Adam Barton has been winemaking since 2001 and largely started as a result of tasting a glass of the 1965 Lindemans Hunter River Burgundy which he described as magic.
Adam completed a business degree straight from high school. His first job was assistant manager of the cellar door at Rothbury Estate in Australia’s Hunter Valley. This led to subsequent roles in wholesale, retail and marketing.
However, Adam's interest always led back to the winery and to winemakers who were very generous with their time, fueling his interest in winemaking and production. He tested his way through several vintages as a cellar hand before studying enology at the University of Adelaide.
Adam’s has had an extensive winemaking career – including stints in McLaren Vale, the Barossa Valley, Coonawarra, the iconic Bonny Doon Vineyard in California and at Reillys Wines in the Clare Valley – one of Australia’s most renowned winemaking regions – before building his own Clare Valley winery, Atlas Wines, from the ground up. Today Adam makes wines for Angels under his Rabbit & Spaghetti label, whose name is a homage to the meal staple shared between Italian soldiers and farmers during World War II.
When asked what it was about his job he loved, Adam replied with "The diversity of the work… driving tractors in the vineyard, in the winery, laboratory work, tasting, sales... it's perfect for someone with the attention span of an ant."
Adam's Archangels
In the past I would have described myself as a lover of reds. Since being involved with Naked Wines and the winemakers and other participants, I've opened my horizons and really embraced all wines and the qualities they have to offer. Knowledge is power.
Besides wine, I'm a passionate wanna be foodie! I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen- of course with a glass of NW to keep my company. I love all of NW wines especially anything from Stefano di Blasi, Dave Harvey, Rabbitt and Spaghetti, the Michauds, Karen Birmingham, Stephen Millier, Daniel Baron, the Phillips, the Glaabs, the Dashe's.. the list is endless! From the great PNW with love, LaDonna ALWAYS needs more wine!
