Dear Angels,
There’s a freedom here at Naked Wines.
When I first began my career, I planned on working with my hands, experiencing every bit of the hard work it takes to bring a bottle of wine to life. But then I began to climb in wine’s corporate side, and with every promotion, I moved further away from the work that made this career so special to me.
As I was juggling corporate responsibilities, our son Colby was born with Congenital Heart Disease. It put everything into perspective, and I chose to leave my corporate role to focus on our family. We worked on forming our own wine label to support our family, but it was a difficult haul.
Then Naked Wines came along.
It was the perfect model at the perfect time. The financial support from Angels meant I could pursue my dream of being a winemaker without sacrificing the family time that I hold so dear.
The support and sense of community were a breath of fresh air, and I found myself searching for a way to give back. That’s when ‘Wine with Heart’ was born, connecting both worlds. Wine made with love and passion, created to raise funds for families going through similar situations to ours. It completed the circle, giving back to the people who supported us. At 28 now, Colby is doing well and continuing to give back as an ambassador for the American Heart Association
And the relationship with Angels has only grown with time. Not only did you all show outstanding support for my family over the years, but you’ve also supported me as my winemaking dreams have grown. I’m now able to make wines in two countries I call home, with 13 styles that have me bursting with pride.
My gift to you this month is a bottle of my Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. I harvested the grapes from some of my favorite corners of Sonoma’s stunning Alexander Valley, bottling them up for a satisfying red filled to the brim with my gratefulness. I hope you bring it home and enjoy every sip, because it’s only made possible thanks to your support.
Naked Wines truly is freedom — and it’s never tasted so good.
Your grateful winemaker,
Daryl Groom
