When fire takes everything, community gives back

Recently, bushfires tore through the communities of winemakers Nina Stocker and Sam Plunkett in Victoria, Australia. Today, these resilient areas are rebuilding. Every Bushfire Relief case made up of Sam and Nina’s wines directly supports the people, animals or places they call home.

Their houses were spared. Their communities were not.

Across Strathbogie, Highlands, Whiteheads Creek, Ruffy and surrounding areas, the bushfires were devastating. Farms were razed to the ground. Livestock were lost. Homes and livelihoods were changed forever.

And then – almost immediately – the rebuilding began.

“When the flames died down, an army of people turned up – and many are still here,” says Sam. “Cheerful, capable people with utes, slip-on fire units, fencing tools, excavators, tractors and trucks. This is happening on farms right across the state.”

The work hasn’t stopped. Moving stock. Clearing debris. Rebuilding fences. Delivering feed. Fixing machinery. Doing the hardest jobs imaginable – without fuss, without thanks, without expectation.
