Leo Müller's Story
Leo Müller's Story
"I am running my family winery in the south part of the Kremstal area in Austria together with my brother, Stefan. Our family cultivates vines in this area in the third generation since 1936. Today in our house are working grandparents, parents and children together under the same roof.
I am responsible for the cellar work, the processes that turn grapes into finished wines. My special attention is giving to my favourite grape Grüner Veltliner. My constant quest for quality was the recipe for success over recent years as seven Müller wines were selected for the ‘Salon Österreichischer Wein’ (Salon of Autrian Wine – very distinct list of the best wines in Austria). Furthermore, two of my wines were awarded second place in a national listing featuring Grüner Veltliner and Riesling.
Our philosophy is to produce wine in harmony with nature and to make use of the conditions of each individual vineyard. Considering these important factors I give the grapes the highest chance to mature so they are the perfect foundation for excellent white and red wines. Winemaking is not something I only do for a living, rather it is an expression of my desire to perfect one of nature’s finest fruits.
Our winery is known for clear structures and fruity characters. The special geographical conditions of our area contributes to the uniqueness of our wines. The hot summer days and cool nights here create crisp, aromatic wines with full body and a refined character. Nowhere on earth are great wines more refreshing or refreshing wines more distinctively delicious. Also special are the different types of soils in our area, such as the rocky Danube terraces or the massive layers of loess. That’s the reason of the exciting diversity of our wines. But the flagship is our indigenous grape variety Grüner Veltliner. We are giving this grape our best attention, because this grape is so fruity and has also a special peppery taste."
