Cyril & Julie Laudet's Story
Cyril & Julie Laudet's Story
"Hi, my name is Julie. I want to tell you all a little about what we do and more importantly why we do it!
My husband Cyril took over the Vineyard years ago from his grandfather because he wanted to keep the Domaine into the Family (if not the family would have sold it) and carry on the story at Laballe by the Laudet family; he is the 8th generation.
All men in the family arrived at Laballe to do wine and Armagnac at their retirement. They loved doing wine but they didn’t have the will to develop the vineyard so much. Just to keep it alive.
Cyril heirs from a slowing down and almost none existent business, and a Winery in poor condition (tank and material but also the building). In 4 years he managed to grow the business and to improve some equipment to do wine. Now the main objectives is to restore the building, mainly the roof, which is about to fall down, and to buy new equipment. We don’t want the winery which makes part of the main house to be destroyed. We want to maintain and keep up the patrimony.
In second project, we want to buy the former sheepfold, to restore it to do space dedicated to our Domaine and to do some oenotourism.
And finally, the house/castle with the park is owned by the sister of Cyril’s grandfather and she wants to sell it. (the vineyard is our and the building is at the grand aunt). So one of the main objectives of doing business now is to become strong enough to buy the entire Domaine. The idea is to keep the Domaine into the family and above all to pass the story to our children.
We are hoping with Angels help we can get the vineyard back to its former glory and keep making better and better wines each year!"
