Serving Temperature – 64 degrees. Alcohol – 14.9%. Served in a Riedel Syrah wineglass. To The Eye, The Jen Pfeiffer Diamond Durif 2016 Rutherglen presents the taster with a Deep Medium Ruby Red Rim Variation. The wine itself is a Deep Dark, Almost Black wine. After Swirling, the wine produces a Subtly Colored, Medium Magenta Even Sheeting which then leads to Medium Magenta Legs and Tears. The Sheeting fully returns to the wine within three minutes. To The Nose, the Aroma, is that of Dark Tree Fruits and Ripe Dark Bush Fruit. The Bouquet is that of Blackberries, Ripe Plum, Cracked Black Pepper, Dark Chocolate, Ripe Blueberries, and Vanilla. To The Palate, the Attack is Fruity for Three Seconds before the Moderate Tannins and Astringency present themselves. The wine is possess a Deep, Rich Body. The Finish is Moderately Fruity, Tannic, and Astringent. The Aftertaste is Dry, Mildly Tannic, Moderately Astringent and that of Ripe Dark Tree Fruit, Ripe Dark Bush Fruits, and lasts for Five Minutes. This is a Sound and Well Balanced Wine. - My Friends, with her Diamond Durif, Jen has set the bar very high. Such a Luxurious, Rich and Delightfully Full Bodied Durif. When you first sniff the wine, you nose is assailed with the wonderful fragrance of Blackberries and other Ripe Dark Fruits, however, this Fine Wine is not a Fruit Bomb. So delicious, and Yes, I will say it, “Yummy”. What is great is that this wine is not overly Tannic and Astringent, two qualities which I know are offputting for some. Oh, I can assure you that they are there, but they are not too strong. We paired this wonderful wine with some slow smoked Baby Back Ribs, Red Potatoes, steamed Broccoli and Cauliflower, and a Mixed Green Salad with EVOO and Red Wine Vinegar dressing. The pairing was absolutely fantastic as the richness of the wine brought out the savoriness of the meal. This wine will pair well with any full bodied meal such as beef stew, chili, coq au vin, etc. I will absolutely be ordering up some more and I cannot wait to see how well they develop with age, which I figure will be spectacular. The bottom line is that I highly recommend Jen’s Double D and I recommend that you grab a few while they are available, after all, there are only 300 cases that were made. Cheers

Doug on Christian Patat Pecorino 2014
I do so love a nice crisp White Wine. This is the first time I have tried a Pecorino and I am soooo delighted that I gave this one a try. A little lemony and fruity but not too acidic. This is a very delightful wine. But the big test comes from my Wife and Daughter. You see, in our house, I am the wine drinker, my Wife and Daughter, not so much. However, they do sample all of the wines I receive. For them, the problem is the tannins and the acidity which tend to give them both the "Pucker Face". So I had them both try this and they both gave a big Thumbs Up and a Yessssssss. They Love This Wine!! So if you are new to the wine world and experimenting with what you enjoy, absolutely give this one a try...or two ;-) I am sure you will not be disappointed. As for myself, I have favorited this Wine and also added it to my wishlist so I will never miss out on it when it comes back around. Awesome Work Christian, Absolutely Awesome.

Doug on Quevedo 10 Year Old Tawny Port
What can I say but "Absolutely Awesome". By sight, by smell, by taste, and touch, the only word that comes to mind is...Luxurious. And for as great as it is right now, and this is a great port, it will become incredible after some additional aging. In the future, assuming it is available when I place my order, I will always add a couple or six bottles to my order. Yes...It Is That Good.
Doug on Stefano di Blasi Sicilia Zibibbo Catarratto 2017
3-9-19. Stefano di Blasi Sicilia Zibibbo Catarratto 2017. Alcohol – 12.5%. Serving Temperature – 45 Degrees. Decant – 1 Hour. Served in a Riedel Sauvignon Blanc glass. Overall Rating – 4.5 Hearts. To The Eye, the Stefano di Blasi Sicilia Zibibbo Catarratto 2017 creates No Rim Variation surrounding the Medium Gold wine. After Swirling, the wine creates an Uneven Sheeting and Few, Long Legs which return to the wine within 2 minutes. To The Nose, the wine displays the Aroma of Ripe White Tree and Citrus Fruits. The Bouquet is that of Ripe White Peach, Lemon, Apricot, Kiwi, Nectarine, D’Anjou Pear, and Rainer Cherries. To The Palate, the Attack is Fruity for 7 Seconds before the Moderate Acidity presents itself. The wine is of Moderate Body. The Evolution is Fruity with the Flavors of Ripe Summer Fruits and Mild Acidity. The Aftertaste is of a Medium Fruitiness, Mild Acidity, and lasts for 4 minutes. This is a Sound and Well-Balanced wine. - Such a Beautiful Wine to see. I was immediately drawn to the Luscious Medium Gold colored wine, although it was interesting to find that this wine displays No Rim Variation. Once you Swirl the wine, you will discover an Uneven Sheeting and a Few, Long Luxurious Legs which all return to the wine within 2 minutes. When I nosed the wine, I found a Big Bowl of Ripe White Tree and Citrus Fruits with the Flavors of Ripe White Peach, Lemon, Apricot, Kiwi, Nectarine, D’Anjou Pear, and Rainer Cherries. And when I finally Tasted this Wonderful wine, I found a Lovely Fruity wine of Moderate Body and Mouth Feel, which showed it’s Moderate Acidity after 7 seconds. As the wine Evolved, I experienced an Orchard of Ripe Summer Fruits with a Nice Mild Acidity. And as the Flavors Lingered after I had finished my glass, I was Delighted to continue to enjoy this Fine Wine for a full 4 minutes. This was my First Experience with the Zibibbo and Catarratto Varietals. I love discovering and learning about new varietals. My Friends, this is unlike any other wine I have had, although it does have similarities. Given all of the qualities, and coupled with it’s Mouthfeel, I come up with a Wonderful cross between a Delicious Sauvignon Blanc and a Nice Moscato. I can Absolutely Recommend this Fine Wine. And come Summertime at The Lake while Enjoying a Beautiful Sunset, Oh Yeah, I will definitely have a bottle of this wine in the cooler. - Wine and Food Pairing. This is such a Versatile Wine. It will pair well with so many cuisines. Think Light Red Meats, Poultry, White Fish, and Italian, but not Big, Bold Italian, like an Ooey Gooey Lazagna. And Asian will pair Very Well. Also, go ahead and Spice it up a bit. The Fruitiness will Contrast Well with the Spice. Hmm.. so what to have? Ok. Well, I am going to drive to our local Papa Murphy’s Take and Bake and I will be getting two pizzas. A regular Combination pizza with Red Sauce, and a Chicken Garlic pizza with White Sauce. And also, an Antipasto Salad and Garlic Bread. Yep. That should work, I’ll be back… - Now that was quite delicious. The Chicken Garlic pizza was a Very Good pairing. The Silkiness of the wine absolutely complemented the White Sauce while the Spiciness of the Pizza was in good contrast to the Fruitiness of the wine. The Garlic Bread and Antipasto Salad brought the entire meal together. However, the combination pizza with its Red Sauce was merely a Good Pairing. Oh, it was a good meal to be sure, but the Red Sauce just did not complement the wine as well as I had hoped for. Thank You Stefano for creating this Wonderful Wine. Cheers
Doug on Patrice Grasset Sancerre 2017
10-13-18. Patrice Grasset Sancerre 2017. Alcohol – 12.5%. Serving Temperature – 45 Degrees. No Decant. Served in a Riedel Sauvignon Blanc glass. Overall Rating – 5 Hearts. To The Eye, the Patrice Grasset Sancerre 2017 presents the Taster with a Clear Rim Variation which leads to the Pale, Straw-Colored wine. After Swirling, the wine creates an Uneven Sheeting with Thin Long Legs which return to the wine within 2 minutes. To The Nose, the wine presents the Taster with the Aroma of Ripe White Tree Fruits and the Bouquet of Green Apple, White Peach, Bosc Pear, Honeydew Melon, Lemon, Pink Grapefruit, Lime, Honeysuckle, and Fresh Cut Green Grass. To The Palate, the Attack is Fruity for 3 seconds before the Moderate Acidity presents itself. The wine is of Moderate Body. The Finish is Fruity and Dry with the Flavors of White Tree Fruits, Citrus, and Floral. The Aftertaste is Fruity, Mildly Dry, and lasts 3 minutes. This is a Sound and Well-Balanced Wine - As soon as I poured this wine and saw its Beauty, I knew I had found a new Summer Wine. The Pale Straw-Colored wine is so perfect in its appearance that it begs you to Sniff the wine. And such a Sniff it is. This is a Very Complex wine with the Aroma of Ripe White Tree Fruits. The fun comes when you delve into this Fine Wines Bouquet. It is rare to find a wine with this amount of complexity. White Tree Fruits, Melon, Grass, Herbs, and Citrus makes this a Wonderful Wine. And when you finally taste it, your Palate confirms what you Nose already told you. Yes, this is a Very Complex wine, silky on the Palate, with a great Fruitiness that balances out all of the other components of the wine. This is Really, Really Good wine. The one thing to note that the Body of the wine implies a higher level of alcohol than that which actually exists. Quite Interesting. However, in my family, I am the Wine Taster. My Wife and Daughter, not so much. However, with this Fine Wine, they both came back for more and gave it three Thumbs up. I went ahead and dropped another couple of bottles into my cart. - Food and Wine Pairing. Hmm, so what food to pair with this wine. I have Moderate Acidity, Moderate Fruitiness, and No Tannin. This is not a wine for a Big, Bold Meal, rather, it will pair best with lighter White Meals with Citrus and Herbs. The Acidity is the primary component and so I want something that approaches the wines acidity level without exceeding it. I am thinking Lemon. So I have decided to go with a Grilled Swai Fillet and 16/20 Shrimp in a Lemon, Herb, Tarragon Butter sauce, Crab Cakes with a Lemon Aioli, Steamed Yukon Gold potatoes, and some Steamed Brocolli. Now even though I know that the Bitterness of the Broccoli will kill the wine, I will hold back on the Broccoli until after I review the meal. I always have Broccoli with every meal because it cures the common complaints of Stomach Upset, pretty much 100%. - Now that was a Very Good Pairing. The Acidity of the Lemon absolutely complemented the Acidity of the wine, while the Lemon was complemented by the Citrusy Lemony flavors of the wine. At the same time, the Creaminess of the wine was complemented by the Creaminess of the Aioli. The Fruitiness of the wine fully complemented the natural Sweetness of the fish and shrimp. Add in the Savoriness of the Crab Cakes and the Sweetness of the Yukon Gold Potatoes, and the entire meal came together quite well. My friends, this wine is hands down one of the best Sauvignon Blanc’s I have ever tasted and I Highly Recommend it. Thank You Patrice for creating this Fine Wine. Cheers🍷

This is an excellent Petite Sirah. Whether for drinking or for cooking, I will definitely be coming back for more.
Doug on F. Stephen Millier Angels Reserve Pinot Grigio Lodi 2015
This is a very delightful Pinot Grigio and I will be buying more. Serve chilled and enjoy on a summer afternoon. I had it last night with a Grilled Swai filet and Grilled Shrimp in a basic Lemon, Butter, Terragon sauce. With that I also had Steamed Broccoli and a Garden Salad. This wine worked just fine.
Doug on Montaria Ruby Port Reserva
Luis, what can I say Sir, but you nailed it. I love Port but I have sort of been stuck in the Tawny Port rut. Not that that is a bad place to be but for me, this is my first Ruby Port. To The Eye - A beautiful Dark Garnet Red with a subtle clear Meniscus. To The Nose - A fruity, porty kind of an Aroma. To The Palate - It delivers a Red Fruity flavor outright with the Port flavors following closely behind, and after that are the Berries and Cherries. It is sweet, as Ports are, but not excessively sweet. The aftertaste is that of Berries, Cherries, and I pick up on a slight Vanilla flavor. It lingers delightfully for easily a half hour or more. Pairings - If it is Port, then there is only one word - Chocolate. Yes!! We paired this with some pieces of Dark Chocolate and also a slice of a Decadent Three Layer Chocolate Cake. Does it work?? Oh Yeah, it sooooo Works!! Luis's Ruby Port works on so many different levels and is an absolutely wonderful Digestif. One thing to remember is that Ruby Ports are not LBV Ports and are not Tawny Ports, and are absolutely not Aged Ports. Every one of these is a different animal and they need to be judged only within their own Family Group. If you are new to the Families of Ports, I can promise you that Luis's Ruby Port would be an excellent place to start learning about these wonderful wines. I normally do not give 5 Heart Reviews, I give 4 1/2 Hearts. This is a Genuine 5 Heart wine and I highly recommend it to all. Saude
David Akiyoshi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Clarksburg 2013
$22.99
Doug on David Akiyoshi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Clarksburg 2013
This is an outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon. Very Smooth and Quite Tasty. For dinner I made a classic Coq Au Vin using 2 cups of David's Cab. Without a doubt, this was the best Coq Au Vin I have made and the Family agrees. Smooth, Rich, Savory, I never even needed to add the butter. The sauce was so luxurious because of the wine. My daughter, 17, is not a big wine drinker but she is learning. She has started to learn how much fun it is to cook and she is starting to cook with wine. She made a scratch pasta sauce with Karen's Petite Sirah and loved it. So I have her sniff and then taste this Cab. Her eyes got wide as she exclaimed "I'm making pasta tomorrow night with this wine". Wow David, Thank You so much for this Great Wine...My Daughter's Journey Has Begun...
Doug on Jacqueline Bahue Albarino California 2015
Ahhh.....Albarino.....The Other White Wine. This is an Awesome Albarino like all of the Albarinos I have tried, this one starts fruity and has a nice little acidic kick at the end. Now my wife and daughter are not big wine drinkers because of the tannins and acidity. However, with this wine, I decanted it to let it breath and then dropped in a single ice cube to cut the acid. I gave it to my girls to try and they both loved it. In fact, my daughter Rebecca has chosen it as her very first "Go To" wine. Well Done Jacqueline!! I had it chilled with dinner. I made a Steelhead Trout Fillet, some Pan Seared Sea Scallops, some Pan Seared 13/15 Shrimp, steamed Fresh Broccoli, and a Garden Salad. Over the seafood, I made a sauce of Real Butter, Fresh Squeezed Lemon, Fresh Garlic, Tarragon, and a splash of the Albarino. Delicious.
Doug on Jim Olsen Muté Sweet Chardonnay 2015
Wow. What an interesting wine. I normally lean to dry whites and I would place this directly in the middle between dry and sweet although it is not too sweet. If I had to compare it to something else I would compare it to the Miriam Alexandra Chenin Blanc California 2015 although by no means is it a Chenin Blanc because it lacks the acidity on the backside. This is one of the things that makes this wine very unique. It has big fruitiness but not the typical big buttery Chardonnay mouthful. This will be an excellent "Sitting On The Front Porch Watching The Sunset" wine. But the really big test is my Wife and my Daughter (17). Now my Wife has never been a big wine drinker. The tannins and acidity give her the pucker face although she always tries a sip of the wines I receive. My Daughter is still a newbie to what wine is all about and is learning. Both of them LOVE this wine and I will definitely be ordering more. Well Done Jim!!
