About the wine
Incredible single-vineyard Pinot from the very heart of the Russian River Valley
Daryl Groom, your Angel-funded winemaker, says:
- "I love this pinot. It's a richer more structured style. And it's soft and round and supple and teases your taste buds. Dark red fruits show on the aroma with a little vanilla and spice. After the first sip you are called quickly for another."
- "This wine is all from one vineyard in the heart of Russian River on River Road. What I love about this vineyard apart from the great micro climate is that its planted to 6 different clones of pinot noir in small 3-4 acre lots. I love the individual nuances of all the different clones."
- "This wine has all 'the bells and whistles' – Hand-harvested at the perfect time of year to get ripe fruit witha lot of verve. Hand-made in small open top fermenters. A painstaking 3 day cold soak where we amplify the smoothest, fruitiest components of the grapes. Gentle punch down 3-4 times a day. 100% expensive french oak aging."
Best before
I love it now but it will age well for 5 years easily.
Serving advice
Pinots don't need much air. I like to drink at room temperature or just below and pour straight from the bottle.
Food match
I love pinots with white meat especially pork. I also love with pizza. Another great pairing is Oysters Kilpatrick.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Daryl Groom
- Meet Daryl... a 35-year veteran of the wine biz, credited eight-times as Winemaker of the Year, named by Food & Wine Magazine as one of 11 visionaries to change the world of wine... and oh yes, he served up his wines at the Oscars and Emmys two years in a row! Safe to say, the man's accomplished.
- Working as the senior white and red winemaker at Penfolds, his 1986 Penfolds Grange was arguably one of the top 3 Granges ever made - 98 points from Spectator and Robert Parker. And now that he works for you, he loves showing off wines from Australia and his California home – Sonoma and Russian River Valley.
- Thanks to your funding, Daryl can focus on doing what he loves – making great wine and sharing great wine. And he selects the best barrels he needs and farms to the best quality. "You are a gift from God to a winemaker," he says. "I knew there were Angels in heaven!"
