In honor of America’s 250th birthday, we’re taking a trip through some of the top winemaking regions and the winemakers you’re supporting in each of them. We’re kicking off our journey in New York’s Finger Lakes.
Though the Finger Lakes was recognized as 2025’s American Wine Region of the Year by Wine Enthusiast, it’s anything but a newcomer. Commercial winemaking began here in the mid-1800’s, featuring native North American grapes like Catawba and Isabella, with sweeter, more juicy profiles. Today, there’s a mix of both traditional American and European vines, leading to masterful, unique styles that showcase the best of both worlds.Â
Vines benefit from a lake effect, keeping moisture around during dry winters and providing warm breezes during cool autumns to combat early frost damage. The Finger Lakes region is compared to Germany’s famed vineyards, with Riesling grapes thriving in both environments.
Nova Cadamatre
And thanks to your funding, you have access to exclusive whites from the Finger Lake’s own Nova Cadamatre, including a 91%-rated lush Riesling and a rare white blend of sustainable Seyval (an older hybrid variety) and Traminette (a more modern hybrid bred by Cornell University). Bring them both home and discover the best of this growing region.Â
Stay tuned for even more discovery… we’re making our way to Lodi, CA next!
