About the wine
This fresh, fruit forward Languedoc Chard is full of the joys of Spring
- In 2021, even the sunny Languedoc where we’ve not had a frost in 20 years, we lost most of our Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc, but our hardy Chardonnay vines made a lucky escape!
- Making a perfectly balanced, still Chardonnay in the hot, dry Languedoc climate means picking super early to ensure a good backbone of acidity and lovely fresh, fruit forward flavours. We are usually the first winery in our area to start picking, while our neighbours are still partying at the local Féria in Beziers!
- We love the versatility of Chardonnay, which we use to make not only this fresh, juicy and fruity style, but also our Méthode Traditionnelle Blanc de Blancs. This wine is beautifully fresh, with light, peachy aromas and pure citrus and peach fruit flavours, all balanced with a delightfully smooth texture.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Charles & Ruth Simpson
- 18 years ago, Charles & Ruth took a leap into the unknown. They quit their dull, corporate jobs. Hopped on the first plane to France. And bought up their own little patch of grape-growing land in Southern France.
- It turned out to be an inspired move. Since then their delicious, Angel-exclusive wines haven’t stopped scooping IWC and Decanter World Wine Awards and rave reviews from wine-critic royalty.
- Their dream was always to return to their roots, making English wine in Blighty. Your backing also gave them the confidence to do just that! In 2014 they returned to their roots and planting their first English vineyard near Canterbury.
