Cillar de Silos Blanco 2018
About the wine
Fresh, beautifully textured white from little known Spanish grape
- Ribera del Duero, where Oscar and his family call home, is a stunning wine region in Northern Spain that has a centuries old winemaking tradition so you can be sure serious know-how goes into every bottle.
- Amidst the rolling hills and pine forests of the ancient village of Quintana del Pidio lies the Aragon family's oldest vineyard that’s bursting with Albillo grapes. One day Oscar had an idea to make Blanco di Silos from them and, as they say, the rest is history!
- Intense, zingy, beautifully textured, with a delicate touch of oak - this is a true fine wine, from a variety we hope to see much more of. All we can say is gracias Oscar!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Oscar Aragon
- In Northern Spain, just a few kilometres South West of Rioja, lies Ribera del Duero - a beautiful valley with a famously harsh climate that is known for its knockout reds and classy whites. It’s here where Oscar and his family call home.
- The area saw a boom in popularity in the 90’s which is precisely when the Aragon family opened the doors of ‘Cillar de Silos’ and they have been producing some lip-smackingly good tipples ever since. It’s a true family affair there with their father, Amalio (alongside a group of pickers with an average age of 75!), carefully hand harvesting the grapes each year.
- Oscar’s deep love of the land and passion for wine led him away from farming cereals and straight into the vineyards. You can look forward to some seriously elegant little drops from this winery... they've already picked up a number of impressive awards - including one for best winery in the region!
