Gus & Swan Altschwager and Mark & Emma Kenneally are two couples who together make some of Naked Australia’s most loved wines, under their proud A&K (Altschwager & Kenneally) label.
At the core of every wine they create is an unswerving respect for the land. Their passion is to source only the highest quality, sustainably grown fruit. The attention to detail is reflected in the sheer expressiveness of their wines.
It’s a rare treat indeed to finally land some of A&K’s thoroughbred wines on UK shores. Given how much Aussie Angels love them, we’re not sure how much we’ll get in the future, so fill your boots while you can!

Former civil engineer turned Moselle Riesling winemaker in... Luxembourg???

When you think of the great European wine countries, Luxembourg isn’t normally the first name that springs to mind. But with a winemaking history that dates back to Roman times and 26 miles of hillside vineyards on the banks of the Moselle river, across from Germany’s most famous wine region, Luxembourg is capable of producing truly world-class wines.
Just like the German side of the Mosel, the king of Luxembourg wines is Riesling. It’s a grape that runs in the blood of winemaker Stephan Weber, who grew up in one of the most iconic Riesling towns in Germany, Wiltingen an der Saar.
Before becoming a winemaker, Stephan actually studied to become a civil engineer, but the call to his roots was too strong to resist. After honing his craft at renowned wineries in Germany and Austria, he settled down in Luxembourg and now devotes himself to making fine, age-worthy Rieslings. His dream is to one day make a wine that will age so gracefully, it could still be enjoyed by his great-grandchildren in the future.

Your 2023 Naked Winemaker of the Year is... the fabulously talented, the one, the only... Marica Bonomo!

We knew Marica would be a perfect fit for Naked when she joined us back in 2022, and that Angels would love her wines. But to go from a standing start to Winemaker of the Year in just two years is nothing short of extraordinary.
Marica is exactly the kind of hard-working, humble but uber-talented winemaker Naked was set up to support. A third generation winemaker, her family have been crafting top-quality Italian wines for 66 years, up in the hills near Lake Garda in the Veneto region. They don’t use pesticides or herbicides, and can paper the walls of their recently renovated, solar-powered winery with so many sustainability credentials and certificates. And by producing only wines that come from their own vineyards, Marica knows the identity and soul of every single grape that goes into them.
In recent years, Marica’s wines have started to get noticed in high places, including being named in the ‘Top 100 Wines’ in the world by Wine Spectator. And now she’s topped it all by being named your 2023 Winemaker of the Year. It couldn't have happened to a nicer lady.

A Swiss cheesemaker and German wine gal crafting cracking biodynamic wines at the heart of the historic Rheingau wine region

Urban and Eva Kaufmann’s winemaking journey is like something out of the movies. When they first met in 2012, he was a rising star in the cheese world and she was the director at one of Germany’s biggest wine organisations, but they hit it off immediately. And within two years, they’d jumped head first into a brand new life…
Eva had had her heart set on becoming a winemaker for a while and Urban was quite the wine-lover himself, so between them they pooled all their savings to buy up a winery at the heart of Germany’s historic Rheingau wine region, which is famed for its exquisite Rieslings and high-quality local wines.
With Urban clattering around in the winery and Eva guiding by his side, they’ve already left quite the mark, converting their entire operation to biodynamic practices and swapping out old oak barrels for brand new stainless steel tanks - influenced by Urban’s cheesemaking past. They might be learning on the job, but they’ve already won heaps of praise from the experts, and now it’s your turn to get a taste of their top-class Rheingau wines.
