Nina Stocker is a ridiculously talented young Aussie winemaker. In her measly 33 years she’s already achieved international recognition and critical acclaim.
As well as making wine for famous brands all over the shop – from the Rhône Valley to Yarra, McLaren Vale to Marlborough – Nina won the Sauvignon Blanc trophy at the prestigious Air New Zealand Wine Awards back in 2009. A feat even more astounding given it was her first year working with the grape.
She needs your help to resurrect the 30 year old vines that surround her family vineyard in the foothills of the Tallarook ranges of Central Victoria, and save them from the chainsaws.
Meet Stuart.... Born in Perth, Western Australia, Stuart has been making wine for 31 years. He is the legend behind Vasse Felix, Voyager Estate and Stella Bella just to name a few.
Stuart has made wines in the Yarra Valley, Geelong and Bordeaux. He also undertook a study trip to Tuscany and Piedmonte, Burgundy and the Loire as well as Rioja and Priorat. So you could say he has a fair bit of experience!
His label, 'Hearts and Bones' celebrates the release of the creative spirit from the constraints of day to day reality. It is thanks to Angel support that this burst of vinous creativity is able to happen.
8 years ago the Santolins were at a crossroads, trying to cobble together a living making hand-crafted wines with 1 small tank, 1 barrel, and a few barrow-loads of fruit. A sensible couple would have quit and bought a house. But they had a dream. And they got Naked.
Our Boy Meets Girl duo chose to make their home in the famous Yarra Valley. It’s tricky there for small, independent winemakers as mega corporations buy up the area’s top notch grapes. Angel funding meant Adrian and Rebecca could pay growers upfront and get their hands on the best fruit possible to make their deliciously moreish wines.
Three kids, 8,000 followers and heaps of awards later, they’re still living that dream and hand-crafting some of the most delicious artisan wines down under. All thanks to you, and the power of Angel crowd-funding.
Back in 2012, during a trip to Oz, Sam Plunkett insisted we paid a visit to his friend ‘the girl with the superstar palate’. The bad news was she was busy judging at a wine show but we were patient and the second we finally got to meet Jen, we just knew it was meant to be.
Energetic, passionate and oh-so talented, Jen grew up in a winemaking family and fell in love with the industry from a young age! She travelled widely, learning her craft at many of the great wineries in France and Portugal before returning to the family winery with a desire to really push the boundaries
Our ‘Rock it like a Redhead’ star has won hundreds of medals and was also crowned your Winemaker of the Year in 2015 so it’s safe to say she was definitely worth the wait!
Legend is a word we sometimes overuse, but in Sam's case, it's true. Over in Oz he’s regarded as one of their greatest living winemakers. Getting on for a thousand medals and trophies to his name, including the daddy of them all – the Best Shiraz in Australia Trophy at the 2010 Great Australian Shiraz Challenge.
Yet if you met him, you’d probably mistake him for the gardener. He’s one of the most down-to-earth, approachable blokes you’ll ever meet. He wears a beat-up old hat and drives a beat-up old pick up, and when he’s not in the vineyard, you’re likely to find him up a ladder with a wrench in his hand.
From being in a pretty sticky situation back in 2011 when he was unexpectedly bought-out by his business partner, Sam has just achieved his lifetime dream; he’s converted an old textile factory into his very own gleaming high-tech winery and it’s all thanks to Angel funding!
Our Angels support independent winemakers by investing £25 a month into their Naked Wines account, to spend whenever they want - in return for discounts, freebies, exclusive wines and more.
Just became an Angel
Smart move - you've found the Sweet Spot
Here's a juicy little nugget of insider info…
When it comes to wine, a small step in price = a HUGE leap in quality and taste
By spending £8-£10 for a bottle of wine, you're actually getting more than DOUBLE the quality of wine than a £6-£7 bottle …pretty impressive huh?
Sound too good to be true? It's not. Here's how it works…
As the price of a bottle increases, more of your money goes towards the delicious juice in the bottle rather than tax, duty and other boring stuff that adds nothing to the taste.
So you get a LOT more bang for your buck
These Sweet Spot wines have benefited from the very best fruit picked from immaculate vineyards, oodles of TLC, and a lil' extra Angel-funding at every step of the winemaking process.
Pull yer socks up. Because if these Sweet Spot beauties don't blow 'em off I don't know what will
I guarantee our Sweet Spot wines will blow you away. If they don't, then I'll give you every single penny back. So you've really got nothing to lose.
You started a but didn't finish it. What would you like to do?
