I've been treating myself to some slightly more expensive wines over Christmas. I've only become a fan of Shiraz in the last couple of years and Juicy is a big reason why. I've had some really impressive single vineyard Shiraz from Sam Plunkett this year but Big Juice remains my favourite Shiraz. I love how concentrated the flavour is is this wine; it easily carries its 15.5% ABV and feels close to a fortified wine in some respects. Jammy dark fruits in the aroma; plums and blackberries, complimented by vanilla and chocolate. On the palate, it really lives up to the 'Juicy' name; rich, jammy, fruity and smooth. Not sweet exactly but the jammy and vanilla flavours do give the impression of sweetness. Very moreish as it's so velvety and full-bodied. I would recommend this wine to anybody. Unless you like your reds really dry, or dislike stronger ABV wines, I think most people will really enjoy this. I would happily pay full price for this wine again. When I saw the 2021 vintage in the January sale, it was one of the first bottles in my basket! Without doubt an all-time favourite of mine.
