WOW!!! I have been wanting to try this since my favourite rocking redhead started teasing us with talk about it a year or two ago and boy has it been worth the wait. The first thing to hit you is the colour as you pour it, don't think I've ever seen a wine quite so purple as this one. Then on to the smell. A little note of VA on first opening but that soon vanishes to be replaced by ripe cherries, liquorice an honeysuckle. Smelling that good I couldn't resist a taste as soon as opened. This is a big full bodied wine with all those cherries, some liquorice and dark chocolate coated coffee beans but slightly disjointed, though never fear an hour later and they have blended together beautifully. Lovely rounded fruits and slightly smoky chocolatey rich taste with a long slightly peppery finish. Stunning on its own but even better with food. Tonight wasn't really the traditional pairing for a big red, a prawn stir fry but it worked well, and even better with a lump of mature cheddar I just tried with it. Tomorrow will go with something more in keeping for the rest of the bottle like a BBQed steak where I think it will be perfect. Next thing to do is email big sister who lives in Adelaide, this is the perfect wine for the Christmas day lunch BBQ on the beach! Will be equally good with a winter stew or just to enjoy on those summer evenings when a wimpy little white isn't enough! Just remind why it has taken so long to get here Naked Wines ;-) OK it is now tomorrow and wine and steak and chips eaten and now I need another heart to give it pretty please Naked Towers! It was no question about it a 5 heart wine but it even nicer now! The flavour is still all there but even more smooth and rounded, steak and wine bringing out the best in each other. The slight ripe cherry sweetness yesterday has faded but been replaced with some soft spicy tannins, really must get some more of this to stick in the cellar as I suspect I'll need 7 or 8 hearts for it 2 or 3 years time!
