The Brave Goose Reserve Barrel Fermented Viognier 2018
About the wine
Vibrant and refined Viognier from a very special vineyard
- Nina’s Brave Goose Vineyard is tucked away in the foothills of the Tallarook ranges in Central Victoria and the grapes for this wine are from the vineyard that her parents planted over 30 years ago in 1987!
- Nina had an inkling that the elegant and aromatic fruit would be perfect for barrel fermentation. So she carefully hand-picked and delicately pressed the grapes to bring Angels this complex and refined wine.
- In her own words ''in many ways this is the perfect white. It’s not as sharp or acidic as a Pinot Grigio, or as buttery and overpowering as a Chardonnay. It’s vibrant, elegant and refined, with lovely apricot, orange blossom, peach and lemon notes.” We couldn't have put it better ourselves, Nina.

Serving advice
Serve chilled from the fridge, then allow it to warm up slowly and watch it open up and change with warmth and air - it is an evolution in your glass
Food match
We eat a lot of asian dishes and our Viognier seems to compliment these dishes perfectly. Think Thai style curry, or chicken satay, but even a traditional roast chicken matches seamlessly, and my favourite homemade pasta with burnt butter and sage... you get the idea - this is an extremely versatile wine!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Nina Stocker
- Nina Stocker is a ridiculously talented young Aussie winemaker who's dedication to her wines knows no bounds. It's not just about the end product for Nina - she's there every step of the way, working side by side with the grape growers, the truck drivers and cellar hands to make stonking wines that are fair and sustainable for all involved. Is it any wonder she’s already achieved international recognition and critical acclaim?
- She's made wine for famous brands all over the shop – from the Rhône Valley to Yarra, McLaren Vale to Marlborough – Nina won the Sauvignon Blanc trophy at the prestigious Air New Zealand Wine Awards back in 2009. A feat even more astounding given it was her first year working with the grape.
- Now living in Central Victoria, Nina sources her grapes from like-minded growers and local vineyards who are down-to-earth (quite literally), and dig sustainable winemaking just as much as she does. Thanks to the support of Naked Angels, Nina and her husband John have been able to develop sustainable farming methods, growing outstanding grapes whilst giving back to the land that made them. It’s a win for nature and a win for wine lovers.
