Jorge Gutierrez Pinot Noir 2019
About the wine
The road less travelled with Jorge's juicy Chilean Pinot Noir
- Chile's Colchagua Valley is typically known for its big, bold grape varieties, but Jorge didn't leave his big corporate wine job four years ago to craft predictable wines. He's discovered an exciting coastal pocket with great potential for Pinot Noir, that won't be much of a secret for long...
- Jorge's delicious Pinot Noir is fresh, bright and ripe, bursting with juicy red berry flavours balanced by some delicate earthy notes. Its silky smooth texture and vibrant jump-out-of-the-glass flavours make it oh-so-gluggable.
- For four years Angels have been backing Jorge in his independent winemaking journey, and he's grateful for every second. Jorge says "Thank you very much for the support. I am pleased to show a Pinot Noir wine from a different place in Chile. A lot of hard work and passion stands behind this wine".

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Jorge Gutierrez
Jorge spent a decade working at one of Chile’s poshest wineries, Montes. He’s the genius behind their iconic ‘M’ and ‘Purple Angel’ wines as well as their famous ‘Napa Angel’ so you can bet this guy knows his stuff!
We met him in a hotel lobby on a scouting trip to Chile. He walked over, hands full of unlabelled sample bottles and, the second we cracked one open, we knew we couldn’t let him walk away.
He gave up the big paycheck back in 2016 to follow his dream and become an independent winemaker. The road has been hard, his time split between making wine and making pants at his mum’s business to pay the bills, but Angel funding means he’ll now be able to focus 100% on his wines (and get some proper labels on the bottles too!)
