Haywood Winery Los Chamizal Zinfandel 2012
About the wine
An Estate-grown 2012 rarity from the Sonoma Hills
- Great wine starts in the vineyard - and these vineyards are what I'm passionate about. My Los Chamizal Zinfandel is from a small valley called Chamizal in California, where select cuttings are planted on terraces carved from the rocky slopes.
- Thanks to Angel funding, I can now spend more time nurturing my vines, grafted with six rare bud-wood selections that predate the US Prohibition of the 1920's, and producing the high-quality fruit into special wines, exclusively for you.
- This wine brings together the various complex tart red fruit flavours that I strive for in my wines, with the balance and restraint that gives my Los Chamizal Zinfandel an exquisite twist.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Peter Haywood
- Peter made such good wine a big corporation came to buy his brand name. They paid big bucks to use his name but they never cared about the talented winemaker that was behind the excellent wine.
- While the brand got sold from one corporation to the next, Peter went on growing great grapes and making good wine under different names.
- If you care more about the winemaker than about the brand name, buy a bottle of Peter's wine.
