About the wine
Carefully selected Sauvignon Blanc from the Waipara Valley
- I am really interested in showing Sauvignon Blanc from lesser known regions in New Zealand. As wine drinkers around the world love and appreciate Marlborough Sauvignon, I'm now witnessing an eagerness for people to discover other takes on this great variety. Waipara's version is typically more understated with quite a different structure to the palate, like a cross between a Kiwi Sauvignon and a good Sancerre.
- Naked have been completely supporting my endeavours to produce interesting and delicious wine from a small and often unknown region. Through the incredible journey that was the crowd funding to help me get off the ground, their continual support and the total enthusiasm they have shown for my wines, I have been able to concentrate on picking, pressing, fermenting and blending these unique wines for Naked and the Angels.
- A true Waipara style with stonefruits, golden kiwifruit and green plums. Luscious on the palate with plenty of ripe fruits, weighty mid palate and a satisfyingly fresh finish. I like to think of it as a Sauvignon with a difference!

This Sav is magic with homemade green bean, roasted pinenut and basil pesto pasta. Being Sav it works well with baked white fish, cooked with freshly squeezed lemon juice, a touch of fresh garlic and a dash of wine.

Meet the winemaker - Dom Maxwell
- Dom is one of the best winemakers in New Zealand. He was voted New Zealand Winemaker of the Year in 2018 and 2011, he also won the prestigious Decanter International Trophy for Pinot Noir in 2014.
- We had a nod from Rod Easthope that Dom wanted to break free, become an independent winemaker and create a brighter future for his family. Frankly it was a chance we couldn't pass up.
- Dom has made wine for some exceptional Kiwi wineries, including Muddy Water and Greystone. Now he's able to put his own name on the label to make wines for himself and for you.
