Culley Road McLaren Vale Shiraz 2021
Market Price
To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll give you your money back. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
Premium McLaren Vale Shiraz from a superstar vineyard that used to make Penfolds
-
It’s been a while since we got our hands on a wine of this pedigree at this price. The Altschwagers and the Kenneallys are two couples who together make some of Naked Australia’s most loved wines, but a bumper 2021 vintage has left them with a cellar-full of premium McLaren Vale Shiraz they need to ship out to make room for the next vintage. They could recoup those costs handsomely by selling it at silly money on the wine markets. But their first thought was to offer it to UK Angels to see if they wanted to get their hands on it first.
-
A&K’s Culley Road vineyard in McLaren Vale isn’t just any old plot of land. The vines are superstars — flavour-packed grapes that used to make their way into Penfolds wines that would set you back $150 in an Aussie off licence.
-
The wine has a big nose full of ripe fruits, cherries and blackcurrants, with notes of freshly ground coffee, dark chocolate, peppermint, liquorice and subtle pepper. The flavours are equally big, bold and intense, but with a silky smooth mouthfeel and velvety tannins. It's all about the fruit, and it shouts quality.

Food match
Shiraz is a classic partner for red meats. Grilled on a barbecue or roasted European-style. Culley Road Shiraz goes really well with lamb, steak and even kangaroo if you can find it. If you'd prefer something lighter, it's also great with a Greek salad with plenty of black olives, or smoked salmon.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Altschwager & Kenneally Families
-
Gus & Swan Altschwager and Mark & Emma Kenneally are two couples who together make some of Naked Australia’s most loved wines, under their proud A&K (Altschwager & Kenneally) label.
-
At the core of every wine they create is an unswerving respect for the land. Their passion is to source only the highest quality, sustainably grown fruit. The attention to detail is reflected in the sheer expressiveness of their wines.
-
It’s a rare treat indeed to finally land some of A&K’s thoroughbred wines on UK shores. Given how much Aussie Angels love them, we’re not sure how much we’ll get in the future, so fill your boots while you can!
