WHY are we called Decent? Two reasons. In common parlance, a 'decent pint' has come to mean beer that is tasty, refreshing, no-nonsense. Neither outlandishly strong, extravagantly-flavoured fare nor 12 cans of cooking lager for a tenner down the local supermarket. Beer that is is session strength for all of us who have to get up in a morning and go to work or get the kids ready for school. Decent also means doing the right thing. So we only use the very finest ingredients - English malt from maltsters we have personally visited and inspected. Leaf hops from England, the Continent or the New World. For technical reasons we occasionally use pelleted hops for post-fermentation 'dry hopping' to create a distinctive hop 'kick'. Other than that it's all as nature intended - and no cheap substitutes like white sugar, maltose syrups, corn or rice in our mash tun either thank you very much. We use traditional brewing methods, virtually unchanged in centuries. We mash in by hand which is damn hard work but remains faithful to our British brewing ancestors. Our nod to modernity is that our brew kit is made entirely from high-quality stainless steel to guarantee hygiene and is electrically fired. Other than that it is replica of what the great British 19th Century brewers would have cooked up their Pale Ales and IPAs upon. As we use 100% natural ingredients and brew in the traditional way, very occasionally our beer may differ ever so slightly from the original recipe. We may have to use a slightly different variety of hop due to shortages. Sometimes our grains and yeast decide they are going to paint the town red and produce a beer slightly stronger than we anticipated. We hope you can understand that's how nature rolls. We hope that's a decent explanation. Now let's have a look at some beer shall we?
