Comment on: Domaine O'Vineyards Proprietor's Reserve
We had this at our tasting last week and I have to say I'd certainly agree with the review on Jancis Robinson website:
“A perfume that made me close my eyes, just to breathe it in. Sweet damson, spiced dried fruit, figs and wet tea leaves. Rich and chocolatey, with plenty of dark plum tang and cinnamon. This tastes much more American than Languedoc – something that is more or less what I have noticed in all their wines. Very long. Velvety. Hedonistic.”
Although I'm not sure about the reference to it tasting more American than Languedoc. Ryan recently quoted something along the line of "when I'm in the vineyard I'm all French and when I'm in the winery I'm more American" can't remeber the exact quote but sums it up perfectly. Althought the O'Vineyards wines have a New World influence their backbone and strucutre are all French.
