Comment on: Mistral Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Stumbled upon this Mistral Sauvignon Blanc this evening with no recollection of ever having bought it. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised. At last an SB that was not overblown and jammy but fresh, proportionally fruity, and tidily put together. The best white that I have found on this site for ages and now I find that it is sold out. If I were setting out to make a sauvignon blanc then I hope that it will taste like this.

Drank a couple of bottles of this last year before deciding it wasn't quite ready. Opened another last week and now just right!

Fresh and not too dry. Very drinkable and a real bargain at the price.

An OK wine, certainly not spectacular but then to bring money into the equation it does not cost that much either. It has more quality than the bland Riesling I am now struggling with, but there are much better SB's on the web site that cost just a bit more. I suppose to be impartial I could drink more of this, and it could work well at a BBQ where quantity might over-rule quality. I hope Claudio can extract a better response now that he is the wine-maker in charge.
