Comment on: Mistral Sauvignon Blanc Carmenere Reserve 2009
Ah tonight's mid-summer dream. I love Chilean carmenere. I also love sauvignon blanc. This wine disappointed though. It disappointed because the bottle emptied and I just wanted to go on being seduced. In the glass it is very pale, lemony in colour, the initial nose was inviting, and then I found a variety of flavours, almost lychee-like, and then moving toward pears and then gooseberry. As a marriage of the grape juice from the carmenere and the sharpness of the sauvignon blanc grape, may they go on living together in harmony. We enjoyed this wine with a lemon and pepper marinated salmon, sauteed potatoes and mixed salad. I found the salad dressing to be too tart for the total enjoyment, but that is not the wine's fault. In fact I can't fault it - try it - enjoy it - I hope as much as I did!
