20 months in French oak can make me nervous that this will overpower the fruit but this was a well-balanced wine - maybe a little too powerful for the timid.

Picked by the other half as a treat for Mothers day we had this with Duck breast. Opened and decanted for 5 hours the overriding whiff is new oak. In fact the first thing I said was 'It smells like a chest of draws, in a good way!' On sipping the soft oak was joined with mellow black fruit for a smooth, round, warming mouthful. Went extremely well with the duck and I would order again.

I love this wine.... my girlfriend, some friends and I have gone through 10 bottles of this and 8 of them have been great. However, two of them have been a bit of a let down!

Two of the 10 bottles we've had have been very woody to the point of tasting like we were drinking pencil shavings.... they were disappointing to the point of me contemplating asking for my money back.

That said, the 8 bottles that weren't like that were truly fantastic!

Good times.... 10 bottles of this arrived today ready for a weekend pretending the horrible outside world of cold and snow doesn't exist!

Just realised i've personally bought nearly 10% of NW's stock of this little beauty.... love it!
