Comment on: Gaucho Torrontés 2009
Another crisp, fruit and refreshing wine, which is very enjoyable. According to the bottle it is 12.5% not the 13% quoted by NW, but hey ho... On the nose the floral nature of the wine just wafts up, jasmine style. To taste, there is some acidity and sharpness, so it has a zesty citrus side; but also a softer side - and I can go along with the lychee idea too which is giving it a nice roundness.
The Gaucho may not be my favourite Torrontes in the NW stocks, but it is a grape that I now like to try and keep available. It provides a really nice alternative to other whites, SB's, Chardonnays etc., and if you are a Pinot Grigio/Gris lover then give the torrontes grape a whirl, you could be surprised!
