Comment on: Castillo de Tafalla Tinto 2009

Wow, having had a couple of less than great experiences with naked wines recently, (sorry but true) we opened this less than prepossesing bottle with fairly low expections but, ... it was superb - Maybe it was a lucky pick with a rich venison casserole, but it was spicy/peppery, very fruit forward and perfectly matched with the meal, just like it said on the bottle - would definitely buy it again.

When we uncorked this wine there was a piece of glass embedded in the cork from the rim of the bottle. Looks like this was done when being bottled. The wine was really bad and think because of the crack & chip in the bottle the wine was corked. Would like a refund please.

I have a voucher from Thompson and Morgan for fourty pounds . Unfortunately , I don' t see anything that I would like to try , let alone buy . I think I shall pass .

Rather hard when first opened, but improved a lot after 2-3 days opened (no vacuum cork!). showed more fruit but also mild signs of amylacetate ? which it shouldn?t have so quickly. So many good Rioja-style wines from around Spain these days. This one drinkable, but not brilliant

Although this wine was full bodied it was very tart , we had family over and all had the same opinion that it was one we wouldn't buy again , sorry.
