Comment on: Blackwood Ridge Un-Wooded Chardonnay 2008
Quite pale in the glass, with a subtle green tinge to it. Not abundantly fragrant on the nose but maybe it is a tad too chilled? Very Chablis-like to taste, it is delightfully crisp and fresh on the palate, a mix of green apple, melon, and although there is a sharp element, there is also some softer tones too at the back of the palate - reminding me of banana chips - then it is quite stoney, minerally dry on the finish.
I guess I had been for whatever reason, keeping this one back, and maybe it has already peaked? But with the prospect of new vintages heading UK-wards, I had to revisit the NWTT experience in the summer, and remind myself of just how good the P-F wines are...
Don't think this is going to last till some food arrives - but as an aperitif - lovely... Cheers Matt and Sam!
