"My greatest pleasure has been to start Arabella, my winery, from scratch in 2006. With the help of my children, Nicky & Jamie, it's turned in to a real family business where everyone is completely dedicated. My family owned a wine farm when I was growing up, and at the age of 17 my mother put me to work in the cellar. I absolutely loved. So winemaking was something I knew I wanted to do from a young age. I love the creativity involved with being a winemaker. Every step taken, from vineyard to bottling, will effect the outcome of the wine. It's vital to have a very clear idea of what the outcome should be and the steps needed in the process to achieve the desired result."

Really nice, easy drinking wine enjoyed it on its own. Not too heavy on the tannins and lots of fresh raspberry and chocolate flavours

I was hoping for a bit more pepper kick and perhaps a hint of liquorice but found it a bit on the sharp side and a bit lacking in depth. I can't make my mind up about the finish - there's a nice bit of lingering flavour there but still a bit of an edge that's not for me. Not an unpleasant wine by a long way, but not something that bowled me over. Perhaps the 14.5% alc. vol. makes it a bit fierce, and although I've not tested the hypothesis(!) I rarely find wines over 14% that I like.

Bit sharper and drier than I would normally expect from a Shiraz - characteristics that aren't my fave. That said, I did enjoy this wine and it's almost smoky tang. But don't think I would buy again for that price.
