What's this about?

The fastest way for us to help you find the wines you'll love (and avoid the wines you won't ) is for you to spend 30 seconds to tell us about your wine tastes. We use these answers, together with your wine ratings to build a detailed profile of your personal tastes. We match your taste profile to our wines taste profile to find the wines that match. Even if it's a grape you don't know, from a place you don't know, made by a person you have never heard of. For example, if you tell us that you like Rioja, we have an Argentinean Malbec that you will adore. And a Spanish Grenache that will blow your socks off.

Peter Rogers

Hello Jose

I have some 2008 Lanzado Rioja Joven and would like to lay down a few bottles. What would you estimate the max time I might do this for and when would the wine be best to drink.

I notice there aren't any of Jose Maria's wines available at the moment. In particular the Lanzado Crianza 2005. Could you tell me if or when the wines will be available? Guy

The first shipment came a few weeks ago and I thought the wine was lovely. I opened a bottle, left it to breathe and then had a couple of glasses. It's nice wine and my friends agree. I like both the Crianza 2005 & Cosecha 2007.

In defence of this winemaker... as there seem to be plenty of negative comments below (perfectly acceptable of course as wine appreciation is all about opinions) I would say that the Joven is the stand out wine of the bunch, although I dont see it listed on the website, only the crianza which was a little dissapointing and lacked character.

Jose Maria's Story

"Advice I would offer to other winemakers? Well, love for the wine, good grapes, total dedication, intuition and effort – oh, and love for the countryside."

Jose Maria Martinez

"Winemaking is a family tradition for me – I belong to the third generation of people dedicated to wine and our family vineyard.

We are very proud of the work that we do, and we are the first bio-climatic winery in the European Community. We constructed our winery in 1994 out of renewable sources, and we've also found new ways to minimize waste, including recycling and repurifying the water used in our cooling tanks.

Advice I would offer to other winemakers? Well, love for the wine, good grapes, total dedication, intuition and effort – oh, and love for the countryside."
