Amy and Matthew's Story

"Matthew and I met at our local wine store in the States. He was a customer I had my eye on - and when the opportunity came up to deliver some wine to his house, I took my chance!

A case of wine led to marriage - and since then, wine has always formed a big part of our relationship!

I worked for an importer for several years in the States, but it wasn't really me. So when I proposed we had a stab at living the dream and moving to France to create our own wine, it didn't take too long to persuade Matthew.

After living in Paris for a couple of years, we bought 4.5 hectares of land in Castillon du Gard in the Rhône in 2005 and worked on our first vintage.

We're not rigid in our winemaking, we work with what each vintage and nature brings, and have created blends as well as single varietal wines.

We farm organically, to be certified later on in 2010, and all the labeling we do is eco-friendly too (we've just employed an eco printer). So we're a green bunch.

Matthew works at Cisco during the day - but his heart and evenings are spent in the vineyard, working his socks off.

It's just Matthew and I, we don't employ anyone. So we rely on friends and family to join in and help during harvest.

I hope you enjoy our wines - we had a lot of fun (tears and late nights) making them. Please let us know what you think."

This really benefits friom decanting, as it has lovely shiraz notes, but no real depth otherwise. I wanted to love it, as if you breath deeply the flavours are there, but you have to try very hard to find them

Amazingly dark, virtually opaque beast of a red. Full-bodied is an understatement! Textbook herby, leathery flavours behind the fruit, and surprisingly smooth. Very impressed!

Well what can I NOT say about this absolute corker! I only purchased this last week to taste to see if it was going to be one of the wines I serve over Christmas... At 100% Grenache and the £22 price tag - lets say my expectations were already quite high..

From first opening, I was greeted with this overwhelming and appealing spicy nose. From first sip - it really does get your taste buds working overtime - Wow! There is so much going on and it is delicious! I will definitley be buying this again!

And now I have experienced this delight - I dont think this will be on offer to my guests - I'll keep this hidden for myself. One of THE best wines around. Lovely.

Finished the last glass of this tonight and just wanted to send a warning out to those yet to try it.

This wine is not filtered - personally, I love that in my wines as it retains a lot of it's subtle flavours. However, it does tend to leave some sediment in the wine.

So, leave the bottle to stand for a couple of hours before you drink to allow the sediment to settle. Either that, or decant.

The quality of the wine more than makes up for any sediment. To be honest, the sediment is a by-product of the way in which the wine is treated to provide such quality.
