Was worried that after all the anticipation of tasting this wine again after the great day we had at Lords we’d be disappointed.

But no such problem! We decanted the wine for an hour or so while Kevin cooked supper (slow cooked lamb on a bed of vegetables).

The wine is deep ruby/purple with violets on the nose and red cherry and blackcurrants on the palate. Complex layers with hints of leather and tobacco. Firm tannins and just the right balance of acidity with a smooth silkiness means this can be drunk with or without food.

Top wine, just hope the next “Rising Star� tasting finds such a gorgeous wine!

A lovely bramble fruit tasting wine, smooth and drinkable. Took some round to friends last night and it went very well with the slow cooked lamb shoulder.

Just fantastic.

Got home from work on Thursday knowing that the marketplace order was waiting for me when I got home and I must confess I didn't give the wine any time to breathe.... short of a good swill in a large glass.... and still it wowed me.

The smoky warmth on the finish is a delight and I enjoyed it so much I polished off the whole bottle on a school night!

Did I really only pay £5.49 for this?

Fantastically drinkable, just a boatload of fruit and a hint of smoke on the finish.

Looks like the 2009 is sold out, but with the 2010 vintage still available for Angels at the £5.49 price I'm going to have to snap up a few more bottles for the rack.
